COVID-19 Plan of Action

Due to the current COVID-19 health threat, we understand that during these times many people are concerned for their safety and wellbeing. Therefore, I have compiled the following information regarding our plan of action with the intention of easing your concerns when it comes to us servicing your location and keeping everyone as safe as possible, especially during these changing and often challenging times.

As a result of the current COVID-19 health threat to us locally and until this threat passes, we've implemented preventative health measures for our employees and especially our customers. Effective immediately, and following the CDC's suggested safety guidelines, we are paying special attention to "social distancing" (keeping a safe distance of six (6) feet) and we have modified our future service protocol to render only an "exterior perimeter treatment" as a precautionary measure for everyone's health and safety. However, there will be some exceptions allowed if individual circumstances dictate. For instance, some people may be having a problem with insects inside their home or business. If any of our customers require an interior service (or services) for a specific pest problem, we will then deal with each request with the utmost safety and caution. Please note that our field technicians and inspectors are sanitizing their hands between every appointment or service as a precautionary measure to reduce the possibility of catching or spreading germs or viruses.

In our business, we have been trained to utilize personal protective equipment (referred to as PPE's) when necessary. These protective items that all employees carry inside their vehicles include face masks, nitrile industrial 5 mil gloves, eye goggles, respirators and Tyvek protective coveralls, if needed . Also, under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Agency, CISA (Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency) has recently published a memorandum stating that "Exterminators" are referred to as an essential business.

CISA Public Works

To review this memo go to: https://www.cisa.gov/publication/guidance-essential-critical-infrastructure-workforce, and under the sub-heading of "Public Works" you will find that they've listed "exterminators" as one of the businesses that are necessary in order to maintain the safety, sanitation, and essential operations of residences.

It is determined that our professional field (exterminators) is needed to help in situations like what we are experiencing right now. Since insects can (and do in certain circumstances) spread viral diseases, exterminators help to eliminate or reduce this vector from spreading viruses when they are present.

I sincerely hope this information answers some of your questions regarding our important role and that you'll feel better about our effort to protect your homes and businesses from experiencing a pest problem. If not, please send your inquiries/concerns to bob@choicepestcontrolfl.com or give me a call at (561) 582-7500.
